Survey shows comfort is the hidden hero at holiday gatherings
Our latest survey shows temperature plays a critical role in maintaining high spirits during holiday gatherings. From prepping the perfect playlist to cooking a delicious meal, a lot of preparation and detail goes into planning a holiday get-together and making sure your guests have a good time. Unfortunately, all that hard work can be undone by something as simple as the temperature in your home.
According to our survey, 50% of people would leave a party early if they didn’t feel comfortable with the temperature at the gathering.
When it comes to surprising statistics from this survey, we’re just warming up. While a home-cooked feast may seem like the most important part of a holiday celebration, the temperature holds just as much significance. In fact, more people would rather fake their enjoyment of the food or stay hungry than be too hot or too cold inside.
And, while spending hours adorning your home with seasonal décor may be a tradition, make sure not to overlook the impact temperature can play in your home during the holidays. Our survey found, nearly one-third said the temperature can make them feel just as festive as the decorations.
While 88% of Americans think it’s rude to change someone else’s thermostat, over half of respondents said they have or they know someone has changed a family member’s thermostat during the holidays without telling them.

Most survey respondents reported preferring similar indoor temperatures, with the ideal temperature hovering around 70 degrees. In fact, 66% of those surveyed say their ideal indoor temperature falls between 68 and 72 degrees.
