Operation
Humidification / Dehumidification
What is the ideal humidity percentage to maintain?
The ideal humidity range for a typical home is 40% - 60%.
Humidity levels over 60% can cause or worsen health issues such allergies and asthma. Fungi, bacteria, mites and viruses all thrive in humid environments. Fungal growth, caused by high humidity levels, can also cause damage to your home. You can find more information on ways to manage high humidity in our blog.
Bacteria and viruses also thrive in climates with humidity below 40%. This can increase the risk of respiratory infections and other conditions during cold and flu seasons. You can find more information on ways to fight dry winter air in our blog.
Can I install a humidifier/dehumidifier by myself?
If you want Sensi to control humidity in your home, we recommend having a contractor install a whole home humidifier or dehumidifier to the thermostat so they can be sure it’s wired correctly and that your humidifier/dehumidifier is operating normally.
To find a professional installer, you can use our “Find a Pro” tool on our website for technicians in your area.
